American Elephant

3/2019 36” X 48”. Oil on Canvas

This is the depiction of an extinction level event. The African-American male as endangered species poached for money, sport and culture. Monetized and diluted for consumption and entertainment. The landscape is reflective of the ongoing deterioration of the African-American community and family. Each generation divided and becoming more separate. The monkeys represent those responsible for the cultural appropriation and demonization of African-American men in America and are complicit in the death of the black man.
